Birth Control and the Christian

Recently, we received a call from a man who asked if we had something that we could send him on birth control. He and his wife were discussing the subject, and he was looking for information that might clarify question. It turns out that in 1986 we published a booklet entitled "Family Planning and the Word of God." We decided to reprint Part of this booklet which deals with methods of birth control.

There are enormous pressures on couples to practice today some form of family planning. Only a few decades ago most couples have given little attention to the issue, but it is more the case. Also in recent decades, there has been a substantial increase in contraceptive methods available, making it easier planning family.

It is not our intention to address the issue of family planning in general. What we want to make this article is to demonstrate how different working methods of birth control and show that there are forms that no Christian should use. Beyond this, we believe that the decision to practice birth control is a personal matter.

Contraceptive Methods CHRISTIANS

DO NOT USE

We have said that family planning is not something that we can give simple "yes" or "no". In many respects this is something that each couple must decide alone before God. Yet in the same time, there are several forms of birth control that are clearly condemned by the Scriptures and that a Christian is not free to use.

In the following section we will discuss abstinence, abortion and certain types of birth control – the IUD, some contraceptive pills, and the new anti-progesterone pill (RU-486).

Abstinence is NOT A FORM Birth control

"Now concerning the things you wrote: It is good for man not to touch a woman. However, to avoid fornication, let each have his own wife and each woman has her husband. The husband makes the wife due benevolence: and likewise the wife to her husband. The woman has no power of his own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband has no power of his own body, but women. Defraud ye not one another, except it be with consent for a time, so that you give May fasting and prayer, then come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinence. "(1 Corinthians 7:1-5)

If a couple decides to family planning is the will of God For them the question of the method still must be asked. What about abstinence? Some decide to abstain from sexual intercourse to avoid conception. The New Testament does not permit such an arrangement on a long term. In I Corinthians 7, the Apostle Paul says that purposes of marriage is to protect men and women of fornication. In marriage, couples are completely free to meet. There is nothing unspiritual Relations between spouses.

"Marriage should be honored by all, and the immaculate bed … "(Hebrews 13:4)

"Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets. They are only your own, and not for strangers with you. Let thy fountain be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth. Whether as the hind and pleasant roe pleasant, let – her breasts satisfy you at all times, and am still delighted with his love. "(Proverbs 5:15-19)

Abstinence in marriage is not good. He is dangerous! It is, in fact, disobedience to the Word of God. The Bible commands Christians to couples only not deprive each other sexually.

"The husband makes the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife to her husband. The woman has no authority over her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his body, but the woman. Defraud ye not one another … "(1 Corinthians 7:3-5)

The husband is responsible for meeting the physical needs of the wife, she is responsible to meet his. The only exception is for the purpose of fasting and prayer, and this is only to be for a time – not a permanent or long-range agreement, but a temporary special times of prayer focused. Any other abstinence brings increased danger of Satan using the natural desires of the flesh to create situations of temptation.

"… Except with consent for a time, so you may to give you fast and prayer, then come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinence [lack of self control]. "(1 Corinthians 7:5)

Thus, except for brief periods agreed by the husband and wife for prayer and fasting, abstinence should not be used as a method of birth control.

ABORTION IS NOT A GOOD METHOD OF BIRTH CONTROL

"A woman may forget her child, she should not have compassion for the son of her womb? YEA …." (Isaiah 49:15)

It's almost strange that in speaking to Christians about family planning, we would have to address the issue of abortion is morally reprehensible. But the fact is that many of today's major Christian denominations support "pro-choice." Many Christian leaders do not give a warning against this scourge. In fact, some who call themselves evangelicals are beginning to support abortion in certain cases. For example, Intervarsity Press has published a book in 1985 called Brave New People by Gareth Jones. Consider some quotes from this book —

"If abortion is considered, a reasonable decision will take into account the fetus, and also parents, brothers and sisters "(p. 157).

"In this case, it must be determined whether the abortion would be beneficial for the fetus "(p. 158).

"No biblical passage speaks of human beings with personality before birth "(p. 169).

"I am ready to admit that there may be circumstances where, although reluctantly, even Christians May need to consider an abortion "(p. 173).

"Unfortunately, some families can not cope with this challenge, and a compromise must be adopted reluctantly, namely, the cessation pregnancy [abortion] … God's love for the weak … requires a comparable concern for the unusual and for those who are likely to be rejected by society "(p. 179).

Because of pressure from various quarters Intervarsity stopped distributing the book. But it has already been published by another Christian publisher, Eerdmans, and is supported by many who claim to be evangelical Christians.

BEGINNING OF LIFE IN DESIGN

For Bible-believing there can be no doubt about it. Scripture tells us that human life begins at conception. When the sperm joins the egg, a brand new life of man began. Many say it is not possible to know exactly when the embryo is fully human and should therefore be called a child. The Bible leaves no such confusion. Consider as follows:

"Behold, I was shapen in iniquity and in sin my mother conceived me. "(Psalm 51:5)

In Psalm 51 David shows his repentance for adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband. In verse five, he recognizes that was a sinner from the moment of conception. This is reiterated by the apostle Paul in Romans 5:12 – "Therefore as by one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and so death passed upon all men because all sinned. "Since Adam and Eve rebelled against God, their fallen nature was transmitted from generation to generation through the seed of the father.

But note that David speaks of himself in a personal way, even if we consider the design. He said that I was given birth in iniquity and in sin my mother conceived me. It was David himself who was conceived.

"You covered me in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made … My substance was not hidden from you when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the bottom of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, yet being imperfect, and in thy book all my members were written, which were shaped in recovery, while yet there was none. "(Psalm 139:13-16)

For Bible-believers, this astonishing passage leaves no question about whether or not an embryo is a child of the real man. The author, David, said that it God himself that formed in the womb and that God knew all about himself when he was growing design – before his little heart began to beat in three weeks after conception, before the buds little arms and legs appeared to four weeks after conception, before his little brain divided into two sections, five weeks after conception, before his eyes have taken shape in six weeks after conception – "even when there was none of them" God knew. The fertilized egg in the uterus of the mother of David was only a little thing microscopic size, but fertilized egg was known by God, like David, the future king of Israel and Great-great-grandfather of Lord Jesus Christ.

We see that when impregnated egg is cut in a certain way it dies, the death of a distinct individual site being human decision. It is true that many eggs for various reasons of course fail to bind to the uterine wall of the mother after impregnation and thus do not mature at birth. But the man has nothing to do with it. It's the same with life after birth. Men die In many ways, natural and artificial. Often, that can not be arrested. But if someone takes a knife or a poison and ends the life of an individual, is murder. If the murderer claims that he killed to die anyway, or that people die every day if we do should not be concerned, his argument would not be acceptable. He murdered a man and will be punished. Similarly, if someone stops the growth of a tiny embryos if the drug or otherwise, that person has killed a tiny person already known by God.

"If men quarrel, and wounded a woman with child so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall surely be punished, according as the woman's husband shall lay upon him, and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any harm follow, then thou shalt give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise. "(Exodus 21:22-25)

Note that Bible says the fruit born of woman is a child. God calls a child, and if the unborn child is wrong, God required that whoever caused evil to be punished.

"As you do not know what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her who is with child: even if you do not know the works of God who makes all things. "(Ecclesiastes 11:5)

Again, the Bible says that the tiny creature to rise more in the uterus of a woman is a child. This is not a drop of protoplasm, or thing or a human being underdeveloped. He is a child even though the small bones are being formed.

"Listen Iles to me, and listen, O people, by far, the Lord called me from the womb, from the bowels of my mother has he made mention of my name … And now, saith the Lord that formed me from the womb to be his servant …." (Isaiah 49:1,5)

"Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before you came out of the belly mother, I sanctified thee and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. "(Jeremiah 1:4,5)

The transition prophecy in Isaiah refers to the Lord Jesus Christ, and possibly also refers to himself Isaiah. The similar passage in Jeremiah speaks of the prophet's relationship with God before his birth. Note that we still see that God has called them before they are born, and it is God who has trained in the womb of their mother. Those who interfere with the growth process after the ovum of the mother was fertilized are interfering with God's work to form a human being who is known to God. This is a very serious matter.

If we asked the mother of Isaiah or Jeremiah's mother, what is in their bellies, they have responded, had they known the prophecies that were follow, "This is Isaiah," This is Jeremiah. "Concerning the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible leaves no question that either. "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was pregnant with the Holy Spirit "(Matthew 1:18). Later, the angel told Joseph that the child's name is Jesus and" what is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit "(Matthew 1:20,21).

As soon as Mary conceived her first-born son by the supernatural power the Holy Spirit he was called a child. And it was in earlier stages of growth in the uterus.

"… and will be filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb of its mother. "(Luke 1:15)

It is true that John the Baptist had no children Regular, but that it was filled with the Holy Spirit even before his birth, proves clearly that he was fully a human being. If someone had abandoned this little creature in the womb of Elizabeth, we have been the murderer of John the Baptist.

"And it came to pass that when Elizabeth heard the baby leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. "(Luke 1:41)

This passage shows side of the Bible that even doctors are finding – that the unborn child is aware of things outside the uterus responds. In this case, the unborn baby was John the Baptist. Remember it was already filled with the Holy Spirit, and he knew the situation was happening outside the womb when the mother of her Lord and Savior has met his own mother, Elizabeth. Note also that one is called Here unborn child.

With these references Scripture before us, we have only two choices – we can dismiss the Bible and its teaching, or we can recognize that the fertilized egg is a tiny human being, known to God, and the mysterious and wonderful growth, which occur during his nine months in the womb is God's direct method that works to form this baby as his own plan and purpose. Every time, therefore, someone interferes with the growth of an embryo, he commits murder.

Contraceptive pills and IUDs are not unique METHODS OF CONTROL OF BIRTHS

Having discussed abstinence and abortion, there are a few other methods of birth control, which, when considered in the light of the teachings of the Bible, it is forbidden to Christians. In short, any method of birth control, which cuts growth of the fertilized ovum is already a form of abortion is murder. We have seen that according to the Word of God is human life begins at conception – When the male sperm joins the egg parent. At that time, a new and unique human life begins its eternal journey, having become a living soul through the mysterious action of God Almighty. We have seen that the Bible teaches this. Not all scientists today would agree that the newly conceived embryo is a human being at this point in time, but all agree that life is a new and unique growth began explosive to the full development.

Scientists also know that a new human life begins at conception (fertilization). In an excellent book entitled The position of modern science on early human life (copyright 1975, Scientists for Life), we read This brilliantly simple and clear explanations on page 15 —

"When your life?" The answer to this question can be formulated simply by going backwards in time. Before you were an adult, you were a teenager, and before the child, and before that an infant. Before you were an infant – that is, before you were born – you were a fetus, and before that an embryo. Before you were an embryo at your location, you were a blastocyst, and before that a morula, and before a zygote or fertilized ovum. However, you were never a sperm or an unfertilized egg. Therefore, while life is going, your life began when the nucleus of your father's sperm fused with the nucleus of the egg your mother, or fertilization. [The Christian News (January 13, 1986), p. 8]

Because methods new research findings such as the electron microscope, scientists can now observe the small cells and the genes that constitute a body living. They actually observed the formation of the human being from the moment when the genes of the father and mother are united. Consider the following description of what happens during the first weeks after conception:

"In the [first seven weeks] cells perform their maneuvers most complex, by organizing patterns that give the embryo its human form. Towards the end of the third week in a groove on the back gutterlike folds into a neural tube – the future nervous system. The tube closes, the brain is taking shape already differentiate themselves back in the medium and the forebrain. The five-week embryo, only one third AN INCH LONG, is a marvel of miniaturization: the limb buds send shoots with dimples marking the nascent [beginning to form] hands and feet, and the hindbrain is stalked past eyepiece. At the seventh and eighth weeks, the embryo face human figure, members of the hinge joints, hands and fingers splay in primitive genitalia appear … After eight weeks nearly all of the internal organs are in place and the embryo, just one INCH LONG, like a little person.

"At this stage [eight weeks after conception], 95 percent of known structures, features and organs, the nerves to tiny fingers and the muscles are there, "Said Dr. Ronan O'Rahilly, an embryologist at the University of California at Davis (Newsweek, January 11, 1982, p. 37).

THREE STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT

In reflecting on methods of birth control, it is important to understand something the process by which the mother's egg is fertilized and then develops into a fully developed child.

The process can be divided in three steps – 1) fertilization, 2) implantation, 3) growth.

Fertilization, the father's sperm penetrates in the ovum of the mother. This happens in the mother's uterine tube near the uterus. It was at that time that genes from the mother and father have joined to make the life of their new offspring. At this stage the developing child is called in medical terms, a zygote, "" which is a Greek word meaning "yoked together."

Depending on the tiny person growing continues his travels into the uterus where it becomes attached to the uterine wall. This is located and occurs between days 5 and 8 and is completed by day 9 or 10 (The Merck Manual, Fourteenth edition, p. 1708).

The developing child is now called an "embryo", which comes from a Greek word meaning "swell." It is a term very well, because the cells of this new little being is growing at a dizzying pace. For a short time the developing embryo derives its livelihood directly from the uterus until the placenta and umbilical cord are developed.

After that, nothing is GROWTH left, but as the baby's body shapes quickly. After about eight weeks, the child is known by medical term "fetus" which comes from the Latin word meaning "offspring".

The process "incredibly complex and beautiful design is described by a doctor as follows —

"First there is the ovary, from the depths of the body, which, driven by an unknown force, turns a once a month to funnel like opening at the end of the fallopian tube. On the surface of the ovary is a tiny bubble, a bulb, which contains eggs alone, for some mysterious reason, has emerged from a field of 250,000 to mature this month.

"Suddenly the bubble bursts. Triggered by a surge of luteinizing hormone, a chemical messenger eloquent brain, ovaries strongly contracts and chips mature eggs etc.. Projections to fringed at the end of the fallopian tube to reach out like fingers to grasp the egg [eggs] and draw in the narrow tunnel tube. In a dream ballet in slow motion, thousands of tiny eyelashes undulating caress the egg is maturing and slowly move along the about four inches, four days to reach the uterus.

"Guided by a direction finding mechanism whose nature we can only guess, sperm back past the barrier of the cervix in the same uterus. They must then navigate the entire length of the uterus and swim to the headwaters close to the trunk dark to meet and fertilize the egg.

"The process is precisely orchestrated coordination of the myriad details of biological incredibly complex. It is, for example, only this time month that the mucus produced by the cervix allows sperm to pass through the cervix and uterus. At other times of the month, the molecules the form of a hatch pattern mucus to block sperm from fear they reach an egg too young or too old to be properly fertilized, producing a distortion baby. Right time, however, the molecules realign the mucus, forming microscopic tunnels with sperm in their journey.

"The biochemical communication system that orchestrates all this is so sophisticated that it makes technology transmissions radiating out planetwide orbit satellites look like child's play. When the sperm finally meet the egg, they secrete a series of enzymes that soften the envelope exterior of the egg and make it permeable. Meanwhile, other chemicals secreted into the tube have completed maturation the egg, so it is ready to accept sperm that has managed to permeate the outer shell. The sperm and egg lock weapons genetic coupling of a more complex biochemical, and DNA and RNA meddled with the mother and father to create a blueprint from which a single human being will grow.

"Once fertilized, the oocyte completes his journey down into the uterus. The uterus, being informed of the impending pregnancy through a complex system Chemical Communications, has increased thick and rich "(Woman / Doctor: The Education of Jane Patterson, MD, New York, Avon Books, 1983).

As we words, any process by which we consciously and deliberately interfere to stop the growth of the fertilized egg, which is a newly created, unique human being, is abortion. If the fertilized egg is not allowed to implant in the uterus, he was killed. The only difference between this and a subsequent abortion is the size and stage of development of the offspring of the tiny man.

Contraceptive methods that result ABORTION

Many of our readers will probably think, as we have done recently, that the contraceptive pill and the like act to prevent fertilization. In fact, as we shall see in medically proven facts, birth control pills have the potential to produce an abortion after fertilization. The IUD, the pill and the new anti-pill progesterone are made abortion devices because they prohibit the implantation, thereby acting to destroy the already-living, evolving Quick, a microscopic embryo.

In an article entitled "Birth control: Waiting in May 5, 1986 issue of Newsweek, Several types of birth control that are covered are still under development. After describing a drug that blocks the preparation the uterus for implantation of a fertilized egg already, this statement was made: "Many experts believe that climate current fight against abortion, it would be an unlikely prospect for the U.S. market, since, in effect, it induces an abortion. "

Birth drug that can cause early abortions of the newly fertilized egg is a fact known and acknowledged by those who understand how to operate drugs. Yet these facts are not widely known outside medical circles, and many are ignorant of these things. It is hoped that the following will a wide audience.

The following offensive content was published by Lutherans for Life. The medical facts were written by JC Willke, MD, president of Right to Life Committee National America.

IUD

What is the mechanism of action IUD? It seems at this time that medical opinion was crystallized in a near-unanimous. The presence of this foreign body in the cavity of the uterus produces a reaction to a foreign body. This is a local sterile (usually), the inflammatory reaction, this which alters the normal body fluids within the uterus. It changes what had been a friendly environment, the migration of sperm and the implantation Later the new human being, a hostile environment. Some have described the intra-uterine fluid product as containing "sterile pus". This hostile environment fluid can affect the migration of sperm into the uterus and tubes, and obviously has an influence on the location Later.

Not too much has been said or written to indicate that sperm are incapable of passing through the uterus, because if they were, fertilization could not occur. Most research tells us the same thing. A significant number of sperm can pass through the uterine cavity, to proceed to the ovary, and fertilization can and does occur.

What is quite clear is that, following fertilization, the process does not proceed to a normally implanted pregnancy. What are the mechanisms proposed to explain why she did not "get pregnant"? The vast majority, almost all medical studies have demonstrated various mechanisms that prevent implantation in the lining of the uterus in nutrients, due to the inflammatory and foreign body reaction caused by the IUD. The result Ultimately, however, in almost all cases where fertilization occurs (an occasional pregnancy goes to term and delivered with the IUD still in the womb), it is followed by A PROCESS THAT ENDS IN THE DESTRUCTION OF HUMAN DEVELOPMENT IN THE NEW UTERUS BY ITSELF OR THE INABILITY to implement. THIS CAN be validly described as an abortion. CLEARLY, almost all current evidence indicates that the IUD'S BIG EFFECT is to act to prevent implantation.

The fact that he is described as a "contraceptive" agent is due to a change in the meaning of words by the Food and Drug Administration and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology a decade ago when we redefined the word "design" to mean implantation. Under this semantic gymnastics, it is a method of contraception, "but everyone knows with the function understands that his action is an abortifacient.

Another comment relevant medical must be made. In all likelihood, the IUD could possibly be removed from the market within a reasonable period for it has serious side effects. The "sterile pus" mentioned above does not always remain sterile. Sometimes becomes infected, resulting in varying degrees of inflammation of the female organs and sterility times. All physicians who practice in the United States several years ago have been notified they were to insert a particular type of IUD, Dalcon Shield, a woman, he was their legal obligation to inform her that it might make him permanently sterile. To protect against a possible prosecution misconduct later, that consent must be written. With this concern, this particular type of IUD was removed from the market. Whether or not other types of IUDs remain on the market indefinitely is an open question. It is at least possible that they may be removed for medical reasons before any legislation can do (The Christian News, Jan. 13, 1986).

THE PILL

The pill consists now over 30 different varieties of chemical combinations of the synthetic equivalent of the female hormone estrogen and progesterone, and the so-called "mini-pill contains only progesterone. Understand that there are different degrees of shares with pills different, as we have more of this effect and the other over this, they can, to some extent at least, be described generically.

The combination pills perform three basic actions to `prevent 'pregnancy. The first effect of the pill is to prevent ovulation or release of an egg from the ovary. This has been described as a "freezing" of the ovary. Although sperm not reach the ovary, fertilization can not occur because the egg was not released. This action is described with precision temporary sterilization, but in common usage it is often spoken of as `the contraceptive action.

The first pill, Enovid, containing ten milligrams of estrogen-like hormone. It was believed that its physiological function has been almost entirely that of the temporary sterilization. Enovid-5 was then sold, to be followed by Enovid E (2.5 mg) .. Since the fall time and not decrease estrogen have been presented consumers so that is now 0.5 mg. and 0.35 mg. are commonly used.

The well known reason for the reduction of the dose of estrogen is to try to minimize the threat of complications from blood clots.

Along with reducing the dose of estrogen, however, He has been the development of breakthrough ovulation, since lower rates have apparently failed to completely remove ovulation.

BREAKTHROUGH WITH ovulation, it is now generally accepted EFFECTIVE THAN fertilization occurs sometimes taking ESC ESC pills, but as described below, these women are not usually `get pregnant. [This means that the fertilized egg is not allowed to implant in the uterus of the mother is killed.]

The second action is one of the thickening of mucus plug the opening of the cervix. This normally occurs at the beginning and end of a menstrual cycle, the melting plug the gap at mid-cycle, and be replaced by a white egg-like substance containing liquid nutrients that are "friends" in the passage of sperm. The combined pill prevents occur mid-cycle, maintaining the cap, and as such probably has anti-fertilization `true 'action in preventing the entry of sperm.

The third function of the combined pill is anti-implantation and anti-nidatory. When this option is the function that is dominant in the given month, there is a passage of sperm, there is fertilization and migration of the new man through the tube and uterus, but implantation does not occur. This is because the action of the pill has "hardened" The lining of the uterus, has created a hostile environment, and small multicellular human being can not implant. THIS FUNCTION IS ONE OF ABORTION IN A WEEK OF LIFE.

Over there is no definitive medical agreement as to the percentage of times this function occurs, in which women and with whom (the pill Christian News, Jan. 13, 1986).

THE MINI-PILL

The mini-pill is a pill form, different from the combination estrogen and progesterone above. It contains only a small dose of progesterone. It is taken daily, 30 days per month rather than calendar of 21-7 for the combined pill. It allows menstrual flow to occur a month while the pill is taken. There is considerable controversy about whether its action is primarily by preventing implantation, as other mechanisms of action have been suggested, but the general opinion scientist at this time is essentially agreed. It does appear that a substantial amount of breakthrough ovulation, AND WITHOUT DOUBT SOMETIMES fertilization. Fertilization occurs when they "prevent" pregnancy by an anti-IMPLANTATION OF ACTION. THIS ACTION IS best described as an abortifacient effect. "

The morning after pill

DES or diethylstilbestrol is a synthetic estrogen hormone. Given high dose, in the days immediately after intercourse, it is known that the morning after pill. What is its function? This fact is illustrated by giving two examples.

In the first, a woman is raped at midnight on Saturday and DES was given 2 hours in the emergency room hospital. In some hours there is a high level of estrogen in the blood. Her body was scheduled to ovulate 24 hours later at midnight on Sunday. The high level blocks estrogen that ovulation, fertilization does not occur, and it does not get pregnant. This effect is a temporary sterilization.

In the second case, the rape also occurs at midnight on Saturday and the drug is given to 2 hours. This woman, however, has ovulated more hours before the rape. The egg waiting. It has been fertilized. She did not "get pregnant", but the mechanism of action is very different. The drug had "hardened" the lining of the uterus. THE TINY multicelled boy or girl, about a week of life, and COULD NOT IMPLANT died. This mechanism has been abortion.

What mechanism occurs in any specific case may not be known, but the action STERILIZATION probably happen two or three times for each action aborted.

Other drugs, like an injection of progesterone are often used instead of DES, as well as other forms of estrogen. Without going into detail one can say that their mechanism of action is significantly same "(The Christian News, Jan. 13, 1986).

PROSTAGLANDINS

As is well known, these substances cause the appearance of strong uterine contractions and delivery of the Baby size of the uterus contains. If used before viability [before the baby can live outside the uterus] is the equivalent of abortion.

The first form Licensed Prostin F2 alpha was a directive from the FDA [Food and Drug Administration] has limited its use to induce abortion in mid-trimester. Subsequently, A2 and Prostin 15M has been dismissed. These have now been allowed to be used for several conditions medical treatment (uterine inertia, non-Hyatidaform malignant mole and missed abortion). [This study was reviewed before publication by Matthew Bulfin, MD, Thomas Hilgers, MD, and Richard Schmidt, MD] (The Christian News, Jan. 13, 1986).

The fact that birth control pills modern can and does sometimes work as an abortifacient (although they often use different words than abortifacient) is freely admitted by the Food and Drug Administration, by medical books as Physician's Desk Reference (PDR) and the Nursing Handbook '85; books by pro-abortion that my body, my health Felicia Stewart, MD; by pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood, by pharmaceutical companies in the documentation accompanying the pill, and some material on non-medical such as Random House College Dictionary. Quotes from the following sources:

"How The IUD prevents pregnancy is not completely understood. Several theories have been proposed. IUDs seem to interfere in any way with the implantation of the fertilized egg in the uterine cavity. The IUD does not prevent ovulation (the Federal Register, Part III, May 10, 1977, Department of Health, Education and Welfare – Food and Drug Administration, intrauterine devices, "p. 23,781).

In describing the mechanism of Parke-Davis' family Norlestrin contraceptive pills can read this review of the PDR:

"Although the main mechanism of action is inhibition of ovulation, alterations in the reproductive tract, including changes in the cervical mucus (which increases the difficulty of sperm penetration) and endometrium (which reduce the risk IMPLANTATION) may also contribute to Contraceptive Efficacy "(Physician's Desk Reference, Medical Economics Company, Copyright 1985, p. 1548).

This same Notice is hereby given to the Lo / Ovral Nordette and the family of the contraceptive pill marketed by Wyeth (RDP, pp. 2255 and 2266).

"Progestin … also causes endometrial changes that prevent implantation of the fertilized ovum (Nu rsing '85 Drug Handbook, Spring House Corporation, 1985).

"In a natural cycle, uterus lining thickens under the influence of estrogen during the first part of the cycle, then matures under the influence of progesterone and estrogen after ovulation. This sequence development is not possible in a cycle of pills because estrogen and progesterone are present throughout the cycle. EVEN IF OVULATION AND DESIGN ON held a successful implementation is unlikely "(Felicia Stewart, MD, Felicia Guest, Gary Stewart, MD, and Robert Hatcher, MD, my body, my Health, Consumer Affairs, pgs. 169170).

"The endometrium (uterine lining) is certainly affected by oral contraception … The change may prevent implantation of the blastocyst [the fertilized egg, the newly created offspring] "(Planned Parenthood, demand Grant submitted on September 1, 1982).

"For example, the pill MAY AFFECT THE MOVEMENT TOWARD fertilized egg or uterus PREVENT ITS SELF dip in the endometrium "(Changing Times," What we know about the pill, in July 1977, p. 21).

"Birth pill: oral contraceptives to women inhibits ovulation, fertilization, or implantation of a fertilized egg, causing temporary sterility "(Random House College Dictionary, revised edition, copyright 1982, p. 137).

How often does the pill cause an abortion?

One question many people immediately ask is: "How many times assume that all type of pill modern birth control and can sometimes function as an abortifacient, how often they work this way? Is it 10% of the time? Is it, 00001% of the time? Is it a percentage that is high enough to be meaningful in my attitude toward the pill? "

Absolute percentages are impossible to obtain. Here the bottom are too many variables. However, doctors and scientists are able to obtain estimates realistic from their research. Here are some figures:

1. Planned Parenthood to the state grant application that the hormones contained in the mini-pill prevents ovulation and training corpusluteum in about 1 / 3 cycles. "That means that 67% of women of time using the mini-pill have a real possibility of an abortion "silent" on any given month.

2. Albert D. Lorincz, MD in the Pill – How Does It Work? Cites a study in which 1200 women received .5 mg of progestin daily (an amount equivalent to the pill much control). However, 60% of the women ovulated. This means that 60% of women on the pill was a real possibility of an abortion "silent" on any given month.

3. JC Espinoza, MD, writes in his book Birth Control: Why do they lie to women? Page 27:

"When ovulation, pregnancy is possible. Years ago Roland noticed ovulation in 30% of women taking estrogen-progestin preparation (combined pill). Today, it is clear that in at least 5% of the cycles of women on the combined pill `escape ovulation occurs. This fact means that conception is possible during these cycles, but the implementation will be avoided and the ` 'conceptus (child) will die. This rate is statistically equivalent to an abortion every other year for all women of the pill. Mini-pills have a much higher rate of ovulation. Pituitary block for prevent ovulation is obvious that in 50% of cycles. Design is therefore possible every two months. This new pill in May production of abortion 50% time – six for each year of use. The very low dose progestin only pill may never prevent ovulation. With a little pill is a small percentage of pregnancies that go to term. "

Some may give doctors a number slightly different, but the evidence is clear – each Pill modern birth control can and sometimes does not work as an abortifacient. The IUD works strictly as a abortifacient.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I WAS pill or IUD?

Your heart be troubled in May now. You may have used the IUD or the pill modern without being that they could be aborted. You're probably asking yourself, "I could have had a silent abortion? Or even more of them? Could I have ended the life of a child that God wanted me to have? "

The answer, of course, is that God knows. It is a real possibility that you've had a quiet abortion, if not more. Nowhere in Scripture does God promise to keep us from committing sins in ignorance.

At this stage, we can praise the Lord for His great mercy. The Scriptures promise: "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness "(1 John 1:9). In addition, "He who conceals his sins does not prosper point, but whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy "(Proverbs 28:13).

Contraceptive Methods WHICH DO NOT DESTRUCTION OF A NEW LIFE

We said that any form of birth control that destroys a life that has been created through liaison male and female genes is wrong because it is a form of abortion. It can be called "silent abortion" or "abortion microscopic, or any other term, but abortion is always and as is a break in the sixth commandment – "Thou shalt not kill."

The question remains: Are there appropriate methods of birth control that Christians can practice? Is it contrary to the will of God Christian couples to try to prevent pregnancy?

The first can be answered much easier than the second. There are methods of control of births that are in fact the sperm and egg unite, and thus does not require the destruction of life. We will analyze them and for more detailed information and a couple can communicate with their physician or eligible books on this subject:

1. Condoms. Used by the husband, they are readily available in most areas, are inexpensive and are effective when used correctly.

2. Vaginal foams, creams and suppositories. They are used by women and are also very effective when used correctly. They stop or kill the sperm and in some cases constitute a mechanical barrier to sperm. According to the Merck Manual, "With the increasing age of women, the effectiveness of these agents increases considerably and women over 30 years, is similar [effectiveness] of the IUD.

3. DIAPHRAGM. It is a device that is used by the woman and blocks sperm from entering the cervix. It "must be carefully fitted by a doctor and the woman must know how to insert that cervix is covered … Cream of contraception or jelly should be used with the diaphragm …."

4. RHYTHM. "For the calendar method to succeed, the woman menstrual cycles should be regular. To determine the abstention period, 18 days must be subtracted from the length of the shortest of the last 12 cycles and 11 days from the longer. Thus, if the cycles of women varies between 26 and 29 days, the couple must refrain from … Day 8 through day 18 of each cycle. A more effective method is based on measuring the basal body temperature of women each morning before arising … Even with this refinement of technical failure rates of the calendar method is estimated at around 7% without the use of recording temperature, the failure rate is several times higher "(The Merck Manual, pp. 1699.1700).

Because of the fact that both parties are bound not to meet each other needs for about one third of the time I fear that this method is dangerous in light of the warning in 1 Corinthians 7:1-5.

5. Sterilization. It is very difficult to reverse the effects of the sterilization operation, and it is said that such reversals are only effective 30% of the time (The Merck Manual, p. 1705). Therefore, this decision must be considered permanent. As it is impossible for us to know what the future holds, it seems that sterilization is a wise thing for an individual or couple to do. What if my partner dies and I want at a later date for further children? And if something happens to all or part of our children? Sterilization means there is very little possibility that we could have more children.

We are not saying that these methods are appropriate for the Christian, we are not saying they are wrong. But we have established list because they are methods of birth control by which the egg is not fertilized and thus a new life is not destroyed.

FAMILY / CHILDBIRTH ” Should I give birth at home, in a birth center, or in a hospital? Should I see a midwife or an obstetrician for prenatal care? What approach to pain relief should I use during labor? How does a waterbirth work?” Expectant parents are faced with a daunting array of choices to make about prenatal care, labor, and birth. In Gentle Birth Choices Barbara Harper, renowned childbirth advocate, nurse, midwife, and mother of three, explains all the available choices and shows how to plan a truly meaningful, family-centered birth experience. She dispels the medical myths that so often shift control of birth away from women and reimagines birth without fear or violence and with minimal pain. Harper reveals the abundant range of gentle birth approaches, including: – giving birth in an independent birth center, at home, or in a hospital birthing room – finding a primary caregiver who shares your philosophy of birth – deciding how to best use current technologies She also provides practical advice for couples wishing to explore options such as hiring a doula or laboring in water to avoid the unwanted effects of drugs and epidurals. “ Exactly the sort of guide that pregnant women have been needing to help them sort through the myriad choices and options that confront them today.” ROBBIE DAVIS-FLOYD, author of Birth As an American Rite of Passage “ Gentle Birth Choices provides a new model of maternity care that reduces the need for high-tech crisis intervention and focuses instead on preparation and health.” HEALTHWORLD “ A must-have for expectant mothers and their loved ones. . . . Gentle Birth Choices is an intelligent and sympathetic guide tobirthing options that explores nontraditional ways that put women and their babies first.” NEW AGE RETAILER The author’ s accompanying 60-minute Gentle Birth Choices DVD blends interviews of midwives and physicians with footage of six different birth experiences–including a home birth, waterbirths, vaginal birth after a prior Cesarean section, and birth with other children present. The DVD vividly demonstrates the strength of women during childbirth and the healthy and happy outcome of women exercising gentle birth choices. It is a moving and powerful instructional tool, not only for expectant parents, but also for midwives, hospitals, birth centers, and doctors. “ Brace yourself for a powerful experience. This remarkable production combines art, education, and politics. Highly recommended.” MOTHERING MAGAZINE BARBARA HARPER’ s passion for natural birth led to the founding in 1988 of Global Maternal/Child Health Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to education and research about natural childbirth. She lectures worldwide on maternity care reform and waterbirth. She lives outside of Portland, Oregon.

As women increasingly seek more humanistic birthing methods than the hospital-based delivery, certified midwife Susanna Napierala suggests that water birth offers mother and infant the ideal circumstances for beginning their lives together. Warm water, explains the author, reduces the hours and stress of labor, offers bodily support and relaxes blood flow, helping to ease the baby’s journey. The baby makes its transition to breathing air in a familiar, gentle medium. Avoiding the didactics of ideology, Napierala infuses her eloquent text with answers to commonly asked questions: How does the baby breathe underwater? What about complications or infections? For whom is water birth a viable choice? How does a couple prepare for it? Water Birth guides the reader through the details of parental and midwife preparation, labor, and birth, noting danger signals that must be heeded. Here is a wealth of solid information, personal testimony, and instruction for those who make this choice.

Toi Derricotte’s Natural Birth captures at length, and more than any other childbirth poem I know, the thing itself and not the myth, Alicia Ostriker wrote in her review of the book when it was first published in the early ’80s.PThe intervening two decades have not blunted the power of the author’s language, her stunning ability to make the particularities of her experience as a young woman forced to give birth in the hostile environment of a maternity home resonate for a broad readership.PNow, almost twenty years after its publication — and thirty-eight years after the birth of her son — celebrated poet and memoirist Toi Derricotte revisits the writing of the book, the information she left out of the story the first time around, and her son’s relationship to the circumstances of his birth, in a lengthy, moving introduction to this edition. With insightful candor, she explores the ways in which her confusion about love and sex and longing took away from the pleasures of pregnancy and motherhood.

Excerpt: Childbirth (also called labour, birth, partus or parturition) is the culmination of a human pregnancy or gestation period with the birth of one or more newborn infants from a woman’s uterus. The process of normal human childbirth is categorized in three stages of labour: the shortening and dilation of the cervix, descent and birth of the infant, and birth of the placenta. In many cases, with increasing frequency, childbirth is achieved through caesarean section, the removal of the neonate through a surgical incision in the abdomen, rather than through vaginal birth. In the US and Canada it represents nearly 1 in 3 (31.8%) and 1 in 4 (22.5%) of all childbirths, respectively. Childbirth is routinely treated as a medically-centered hospital event in Western society, although prior to the 20th century it was a woman-centered event that occurred at home. Lisa J. Patton delivers her newborn LaVergerray using natural childbirth at home.Labour is accompanied by intense and prolonged pain. Pain levels reported by labouring women vary widely. Pain levels appear to be influenced by fear and anxiety levels. Some other factors may include experience with prior childbirth, age, ethnic… More: http://booksllc.net/?id=83449
