Do you know any natural remedies or common practices that were once considered witchcraft in the 1600-1800's?

I looking now accepted practice of alternative medicine in Western culture to compare with folk medicine or herbal healing recipes compared with current uses. For example, echinacea to prevent the cold now? gargle with salt water to treat ailments throat? which was used at the time? How to treat infected cuts? Then and now (of course) How to control fever, etc.? All the links you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely, using many herbs were considered as witchcraft during this period. I do not gargle salt water was used at the time, but most things we call "folk medicine" have been witchcraft at the time. Of course, with how technology has improved, if one of the medical technologies of today have been brought back to the 1600s, they would probably call that witchcraft, too. LOL!
