Baby Legs Review

Michelle Kahl of Walworth,  Wisconsin sent in this review of Baby Legs

Baby Legs are the cutest little baby accessory.  These are little leg warmers, the fit from the baby’s ankle up to the thigh.  This helps the child stay comfortable, against the floor and the temperature, while making an awesome fashion statement.  These come in so many different styles and sizes.

I love the ease of Baby Legs.  They make diaper changing a breeze.  It is also convenient to so easily go from having pants to shorts or “socks” soo quickly.  This is made from such soft material too, available in organic cotton too.  I love all the designs, there truly must be over 100 styles.  These are very affordable too.

Baby Legs come in a variety of styles and sizes, for boys and girls. Adorable! Browse more Baby Legs here.

Note: Baby Legs are very popular among parents who practice elimination communication. They’re also wonderful for babies who are potty training, because they keep little legs warm without the child having to wear pants.

G Diapers Review

Michelle Kahl of Walworth, Wisconsin wrote the following review of G Diapers:

G Diapers is a new hybrid of diapers, part cloth and part disposable, flushable, or compostable.  There is an outer cloth layer, which come in a varity of sizes and styles/colors, a water proof liner, and then the disposible wood fiber pad.

I love these diapers, for me, they require less work than cloth, there is much less washing involved, yet I do not feel bad when I do need to toss the diaper in the trash, there is no plastic anywhere in the diaper.  These diapers are helping me teach my 18 month old son how to compost, he loves being able to dig his own diaper compost hole.

These diapers are cute, and comfortable.  It did take me a few tries to stop any leaking, and I learned my son needs two absorbing pads while he sleeps.  I have never had any issues at all with any solid waste.  Even the plastic bags that the diapers come in are recycleable.  I also like the company, I have volunteered to spend time at their booth in Chicago’s Greenfest.  When first purchasing these diapers, there is a starter kit, giving us the opportunity to test these diapers before buying everything.

A few times during the first week or two of use, my son’s clothing and the outside cloth part of his diaper would often become wet, nothing too bad, but enough to need a new outfit.  I had talked with some other moms who use this product and through experimneting on how to fit the diaper to my son, these problems stopped.

A Child with Special Needs DVD

A Child with Special Needs
Rating:  10

Description:  A DVD that presents life with a child who has special needs.  Its part of the Rob Reiner series and Sylvester Stallone, who raised an autistic child, hosts it.  It also includes real life personal stories from children and their families that deal with special needs everyday of their life.

Review:   Understanding a special needs child and what they are going through can be very difficult. Even if you have a special needs child you struggle with what’s right and wrong and even with how they are feeling and thinking.

Rob Reiner started this series as a way to bring children and their special needs to the forefront with the I Am Your Child video series.  Not only is it important for families to understand their special child but for them to know they are not alone.

Not only does this DVD include children and parents experiences but there is so much more.  The guidance included from doctors, counselors, legal advisors and teachers is beyond anything I have ever seen.   This type of guidance is necessary for any parent of a special needs child.  The worry of your child alone is more than enough but when you face legal things, teachers wanting to help you and even counselors, it can become more than anyone person can handle.  With guidance and some insight it can make all this much easier to bear.  This book can help with all those things.

If you have a special needs child or know someone who does, please don’t face it alone.  Buy this book and let it help you and your child.  It is a way of relieving some of the stress that both of you must endure while feeling a little better about the situation.

Handling Sibling Rivalry, Anger and Temper Tantrums DVD Review

Handling Sibling Rivalry, Anger, and Temper Tantrums
Rating:  7

Description:   This DVD will help you identify why there is sibling rivalry including the temper tantrums and anger that is associated with having more than one child in the family.

Review:  Is there a family out there with more than one child that has experienced this before?  I don’t think so.  Sibling rivalry is a part of life.  How it manifests itself and how we as parents handle it is what’s important.

I have three children.  There has been sibling rivalry in my household for years.  Even as adults it still has a tendency to come out.  Anger, temper tantrums, yelling, screaming, name calling was all part of my life.  I didn’t like it but I still had to deal with it and usually on a daily basis.

This DVD can help even the worst of situations.  It helps to identify what sibling rivalry is and why it comes out like it does.  It gives you some information on why children react the way they do to each other.  From jealousy to feeling left out, it’s all covered by this DVD.

Mostly this DVD points out the reasons for these types of behaviors. It gives you situations that you can understand because they are everyday things we all deal with if we have more than one child.

Criticism:   My only criticism with this DVD is that although it gives the situations and reason why it doesn’t really help much with a solution.  Of course every child and family is different so that may be the reason, but a few more tips would have been welcome on my part.

Liggett’s Shampoo Bar

When I ran out of my all natural shampoo recently, I wasn’t thrilled about searching for another shampoo to replace it.

Natural shampoos that don’t use ingredients like Sodium Laurel Sulfate are hard to find, and they also cost more than conventional shampoos made from cheaper ingredients.

So I was happy to find J.R. Liggett’s Shampoo bar at my health food co-op. It cost around $4, and has seemed to last forever. We’ve had it over a month and it doesn’t look like we’ve used it at all - and this is for shampooing 5 heads.

I like how the bar doesn’t dry out my hair or make my scalp itch like some other shampoos. Because it has such minimal packaging (no plastic - just a small paper wrapper), it’s more earth friendly than other shampoos. It’s made from pure ingredients - olive, coconut and castor oil, water and essential oils.

Another really neat thing about it is that it’s so easy to wash a child’s hair. You know how they freak out when you put shampoo on their head? (Well a couple of my kids do anyway!) The shampoo bar is so easy to rub on their heads without them even noticing. And you can keep the suds on their hair and out of their eyes more easily.

Grab Liggett’s Original Shampoo Bar (you can read more reviews here too).

Peanutshell Nursing Cover Review

Peanutshell Nursing Cover
Rating:  7

Description:    A nursing cover that is made of 100% cotton.  Big enough to cover you and your baby while still allowing for baby monitoring and control.  Adjusts with an easy to use neck strap to fit any Mom and baby.

Review:  Breastfeeding has always been around and is known to be the best nutrition for our infants.  Sometimes it’s a little embarrassing to nurse in public, even for the most experienced.  This nursing cover is a great way to be able to feed your child, with some privacy, yet still being able to have the control and contact you and your baby need and want.

Babies can’t wait when they are hungry.  Their cries and wails tell us that.  You may be in a grocery store, a fancy restaurant or even a movie but when it’s time to eat - it’s time to eat.  Having a little privacy can make all the difference in the world.  The Peanut Shell Nursing Cover gives you that and more.

It is soft and comfortable. Easy to put on and take off by just slipping over your head or using the strap fastener.  It comes in many different styles so you will have no trouble finding one to fit you.  Most styles are very laid back as to not draw attention from other people who are around.

You also still have eye contact with your baby.  They are not tightly covered.  This also gives you a secure feeling that they won’t feel suffocated or claustrophobic.  It gives you room to adjust your baby while feeding or to even move from one side to the other.

This cover is great for giving you some breastfeeding privacy while out in the open public.  It gives you satisfaction that your child is still well taken care of no matter where you are.  All the while giving everything you need to make sure your baby is safe and happy.

Slim & Fit Kids - Raising Healthy Children in a Fast-Food World

Slim & Fit Kids - Raising Healthy Children in a Fast-Food World
Rating: 8

Description: This book, written by a nutritionist and a pediatrician, covers child obesity, diseases and disorders, nutritional guidelines for different age groups and how parents can put all this in place for a healthy child.

Review: Child obesity has become a major concern all over the world. Although I am thanking my lucky stars I have not had to deal with this problem, I do have a friend who is fighting this with her child though and I wanted to try and help her. When I saw this book and that it was written by two professionals in the field I decided to buy it for her. She has thanked me every day since.

I have read over some of this book. It is well written and leaves nothing to wonder. From how child obesity can cause disease and disorders in a child that can last the rest of their lives to how to handle an obese child, this book really does cover it all.

The chapters in this book break down all the problems of childhood obesity. From an overview to how parents can put these ideas in place, you won’t miss anything. There is even a section on how parents can find a routine for their child and then put it in place and make it stick.

It breaks down children in age groups. I thought this was pretty important because what may work for my friend whose child is a teenager won’t work for someone who has a 4 year old. It also helped in explaining how depression and obesity go together especially in teenagers. This brought to light for my friend why her child was so withdrawn and how food played a part in that.

This book has helped my friend and her family. They have found a common ground and it seems to be working for them. Whether it’s your child or someone else’s child that is going through child obesity I think this book will help. It’s straight forward, easy to comprehend and gives you a lot of insight into the whys of child obesity. When it comes to the children of world we need to be educated and ready for anything. This book will definitely give you that in one of the most important aspects of a child’s life - their health.

Airborne Zesty Orange Review

Airborne Effervescent Health Formula, Zesty Orange

Description:  This is a dietary supplement filled with herbal extracts, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids to help fight off and prevent the spread of germs that cause colds and flu.

Review:  I think most people who deal with a winter cold or flu look for something that can stop it before it ever starts.  Airborne Effervescent is a great way to do just that.

Placing a tablet in some water and then drinking it down every morning has helped me this year.  I haven’t had a winter cold or the flu and I usually get sick with a cold about November and keep it until after the first of May.  I haven’t even had the first cold symptom yet this year.

This formula is easy to take and has an orange flavor that appeals to most people.  I take it every morning because I’m always out and about.  I don’t want to take any chances with my health.  I also have numerous grandchildren of varying ages. They bring home more bugs than I could ever catch on the street.  So now I have a defense against all those school bugs.

I also like all the vitamins and minerals that are in each tablet.  I’m a terrible eater. It’s not so much I eat all the wrong things but the fact that I don’t eat a lot. I eat when I’m hungry and it’s amazing how little that is.  Plus I’m active and I don’t take time to stop long enough to eat a healthy meal.  I like the idea that not only am I fighting off illness, but I’m helping my body with some of the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that it’s probably lacking because of my eating habits.

Airborne Effervescent also contains 7 different herbal extracts.  I have long been a believer in herbs and their powers.  So when I saw this I felt safe trying it.  I didn’t have to worry that I might be putting medication in my body that could hurt it or that might cause me other problems while fighting off the common cold.  Who could ask for anything more in a way to stay healthy and keep going all winter long?

Rocket Spanish

Rocket Spanish is software that teaches you to speak the Spanish language.

You can download right away or they can ship it to your house.  I downloaded it and saved on shipping that way.  It’s really great.  I have taken Spanish classes in the past but this system really breaks things down simply.

It’s perfect for the beginner. You can go at your own pace and you get to learn with all your senses as well.  You can hear it and see it at the same time.

I like the guy that does the teaching too b/c according to him he knows what it’s like to learn a new language as he had to learn English as a kid. It’s hard! But it doesn’t have to be painful! I actually enjoy it! He knows how to break things down for you. So if you have a child that needs help with Spanish or maybe you would like to learn yourself I highly recommend it.

It’s also MUCH cheaper than the other software programs I looked at like Rosetta Stone.  Get it at: http://www.rocketlanguages.com/spanish

Description: This program can give you insight into and show you ways to conquer stress, anxiety and depression without the use of drugs in an all natural way.

Review:  It is known that stress alone can cause more physical ailments in the human body than just about any other illness.  Yes stress is considered an illness along with anxiety and depression.  Finding ways to treat these can be more stressful than just dealing with them.  For the most part people think drugs can cure you but drugs can be unsafe and cause other problems too.  Doing it the natural way makes sense.  Why add to the burden you already carry by introducing other problems that can come with prescription medicines?  This program helps you to find and use the natural ways to help yourself.

I was beginning to feel very stressed.  Between my home life, work and all the other responsibilities I had, I was at my wits end.  I began to feel tired but couldn’t sleep.  I started feeling like no matter what I did it wasn’t right.  I couldn’t “fix” anything and feel comfortable with my decisions.  I needed help because I was on a downhill slide.  I don’t like taking any type of medications so I had to find something that would help me without the cost or possible side effects of prescription or over the counter medications.  This program was suggested to me and I decided to check it out.

I’m so glad I did.  Conquering Stress gave me the answers I was looking for.  It explained the reasons I was feeling the way I was.  More importantly, I found out how I got to that point and what things are the triggers of my increased stress level and anxiety.  It gave me insight to why I just can’t seem to get it together anymore.

Because of this program I have found ways to help relieve my stress.  I now sleep well, feel like I have the world at my fingertips and no longer get so stressed that I just go to bed and hide from everything.  I have a new lease on life and I can’t wait to tell the world about it.
